I have been keeping a fairly low profile since the birth of our beautiful son Elson William O’Shea on the 23rd October 2012; he was 2 weeks overdue and weighed in at a hefty 9 pounds 11 ounces! We are so blessed to have him. He is named after my late father; Elson was originally my Great Grandmother’s maiden name but was his Christian name.
Having depped out my regular gigs in late pregnancy, I still occasionally go to The Jazz N8 which is established in it’s new location at the Great Northern Railway Tavern near Turnpike Lane – a short pram walk from our house! I will be taking part in a memorial concert to my fabulous friend and pianist John China, who features on most of my recordings, on Sunday the 13th January from 1pm at The 606 Club in Chelsea and will also host my monthly jam at The Enterprise in Holborn on Monday the 14th January.
I did get back on the horse (function wise) on the 15th December when I fronted a 7 piece band at a Chicago Gangster themed event in Stevenage – check out my band blog to see a fabulous portrait of us! I also played the early set at The Archduke on the South Bank yesterday, Saturday the 29th December and our quartet is back at the Goring Hotel in Victoria on New Year’s eve – I can highly recommend this beautiful venue if you don’t yet have plans… There are other dates in the diary too and these will increase into 2013.
I hope to see you soon – have a Happy New Year!
