Beeston Street Art Festival 16-17 June 2018

*UPDATE this year’s festival is FREE and we want to make it as big as possible to encourage socialising, culture, wellbeing, creativity and learning in Beeston as well as attracting trade and investment during and after the festival. DO PLEASE give what you can: https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/beeston-street-art-festival-16-17-june-2018

Myself and other locals have decided to hold a festival this year in Beeston, Nottingham, based in The White Lion Pub, there will be live music, canvasses and boards displayed and we have also so far secured 7 walls around the centre on which artists can create permanent works.

*19-03-18 Broxtowe have determined that planning permission will NOT be required as painting comes under permitted development!*

Following the loss from Broxtowe Council of 2 of the 3 people who asked us to collect street art design submissions for the dark walls on Station Rd we have struggled to make any progress with regards to permission – we are still working on persuading the committee to give the go ahead and release the £8k they have ring fenced for art.  When it comes to the precinct buildings the freeholder is Broxtowe but we are however now keen to diversify from our original aim of turning the Station Rd walls into an attraction and would welcome design proposals for these and any other plausible canvases around our town  – private freeholders can be approached with design offers and, if they compliment their businesses, might well give permission for their walls to be used in the festival 16-17 June this year.

We also would like to invite street artists to exhibit any transportable boards/canvases over this weekend.  The festival hub will be at the White Lion pub and June 16 coincides with National Civic Day so Beeston and District Civic Society will be fully involved too. Please share this post and let’s see if we can pull together a vibrant celebration and exhibition of Street Art for Beeston this year. We hope to have more news soon, do join our Facebook Group if you haven’t already and if you have any questions or suggestions/submissions please post/comment there or email beestonstreetart@gmail.com also join the event on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/events/2100436513558921/

Many thanks for your interest and enthusiasm! xj
