Beeston Street Art Festival 16-17 June 2018

The first Street Art Festival in my home town of Beeston in Nottingham is almost upon us – I have put a lot of my time into organising this!

Entry is FREE but DO PLEASE give what you can (suggested donation £5) to help cover the artists’ costs. https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/beeston-street-art-festival-16-17-june-2018

We have 12 walls being painted around town plus live painting of canvasses and boards at The White Lion Pub. I am setting up my PA and weighted keyboard there to provide live and recorded music of all genres too over the weekend; featuring many local musicians between 10.30am-10.30pm (out front if weather permits).  Sylvie at Montana Paints kindly helped me organise many of the walls being featured this festival this weekend 16-17 June.  We also will be orgainising more art subsequently around Beeston as our fund raising has gone so well – do get in touch if you have a wall we can do beestonstreetart@gmail.com

This weekend is just the beginning – we want to continue to bring as much street art as possible to our town to encourage socialising, culture, wellbeing, creativity and learning, as well as attracting trade and investment.  June 16 coincides with National Civic Day and so Beeston and District Civic Society are fully involved. Other sponsors are Beeston Round Table, Beeston Nursery, The Star Inn, Tesco Beeston, Fred Hallam Ltd and Affinity Serif.  Do contact me if your business would like to become a sponsor on beestonstreetart@gmail.com

Some background:

On 19-03-18 Broxtowe Planning Department told us that planning permission is NOT required as painting comes under permitted development!

Update:

Broxtowe Council are now 100% on board with regards to turning their dark precinct walls on Station Rd into a street art attraction.  We are now in the process of getting their finance and resources committee to release the £8k they have ring fenced for art. They also would like us to organise painting of the hoardings which will surround the construction of the phase 2 development next year.
