I never set out to be a teacher, but it’s become really rewarding and a major part of my life over the last few years.
As a working professional singer-songwriter, who trained in musical theatre and found jazz in my 20s, I have always played piano by ear until I studied jazz harmony at night school, then honed my craft, compering and singing with bebop pioneers at a weekly London residency for more than a decade.  This is how I know that learning through doing – immersing yourself in music, surrounded by passionate professionals is the most thrilling, effective and inspiring schooling.
The transferable skills I have gleamed through traditional performing arts training followed by improvisation based techniques, focusing on freedom and fun, means I can now impart performance advice from multiple angles.
Students of all ages (from 6-84 currently!) join me weekly for many individual reasons including; piano lessons, focusing on jazz harmony and comping, song writing skills, singing, prioritising resonance and vocal strength, breath efficiency and control, microphone technique, acting through song, mindfulness and bringing confidence into presentation/performance.
If you feel you need to step off the hamster wheel of life and focus on yourself, doing something creative and rewarding that you enjoy, then please drop me a line – I offer a free consultation at my home in Beeston, Nottingham and hopefully together we can bring out the best in you, for work or school or just for yourself!
What my students say:
“I came out buzzing” Ruth
“When I’m here all my other troubles and thoughts leave and I’m just in the moment” Katie
“This is my treat to myself, I really enjoy our hour and feel so much more positive about my voice” Fahd
“She has gained so much confidence and now wants to study performing arts full time after leaving school” Andy, Lily’s dad
“Charlie looks forward to her hour with you every week” Mary
“Evie is flying through her exams thanks to the knowledge she has gained” Nikki
