Jazz singer songwriter Jeanie Barton was voted Best Newcomer at the Marlborough Jazz Festival in 2015. This LP release is an innovative electro-orchestral collaboration with double bassist, producer and Nottingham University Professor in Music Technology, Simon Paterson (Angels in the Architecture).

Our journey
In 2017 Jeanie and Simon collaborated to create the single ‘Who Wants to Live Forever?’ featuring the inimitable Tony Kofi on alto saxophone. Their release was described as “Really powerful… Just divine!” by Dean Jackson at BBC Introducing.
That song was the catalyst for this new electro-orchestral LP, Moments of Clarity. Trumpeter Hugh Pascall (graduate of the Royal Academy and Paris Conservatoire) also guests on Convenience. All four contributors to this album are from Nottingham.
We hope you enjoy our experimental new songs, which explore themes as diverse as life after death, truth seeking, our connection to the cosmos, parenthood/sleep deprivation and fidelity.
This is Jeanie’s second album of original songs; the first being The Magical Mirror released in 2010 “It’s great! It’s catchy as Hell!” Shane MacGowan of The Pogues. She was inspired to write by the illness and subsequent death of her father in 2004. This album deals with many of life’s big questions especially those surrounding grief and parenthood. Now a mother herself, she wrote Rainbows to help bring some comfort to a friend in Australia whose daughter suddenly died of a brain haemorrhage in 2017. All proceeds from that track will go towards Running for Rainbows.
